All pregnancy books will tell you that it is beneficial for women who plan a pregnancy to start looking at their fitness level.
Active fit women are less prone to complications and in general have a n overall positive birthing experience. The amount of weight gained are less as well as the rehabilitation process after birth.
Pace & Power provide some guidelines in terms of training & body changes during pregnancy.
It is always advisable to consult your doctor before your start to train or if you make changes to your program. Training programs for expectant mothers should be drawn up with the assistance of a qualified instructor.

The Importance of Skin to Skin Contact
Jack Newman [11 February 2010] - There are now a multitude of studies that show that mothers and babies should be together, skin to skin (baby naked, not wrapped in a blanket) immediately after birth, as well as later. The baby is happier, the baby’s temperature is more stable and more normal, the baby’s heart and breathing rates are more stable and more normal, and the baby’s blood sugar is more elevated. Not only that, skin to skin contact immediately after birth allows the baby to be colonized by the same bacteria as the mother. This, plus breastfeeding, are thought to be important in the prevention of allergic diseases. When a baby is put into an incubator, his skin and gut are often colonized by bacteria different from his mother’s.

General tip:
Pack two bags; one with all your goodies and anther one for baby, this will make it easier for the nursing staff to find all they need for baby after the birth when neither you nor your husband would be able to assist.
